Donny Osmond Concert

Last weekend (Memorial Day) was super busy for us. We went camping up Logan Canyon Friday night, swam at the sports academy on Saturday, babysat our friends kids for date night that night. After church on Sunday I drove the kids to WX then turn back around to make it just in time for our Choir rehearsal. We rehearsed for 3 hours that night. Monday Devin and I without kids slept in! We went out for breakfast and then did some yard work. It was amazing how much we could get done without interruptions. Then at 2:00 pm it was rehearsal time, change into concert attire, bus ride through town (almost as crowded as a Europe bus =)), sing at "Dinner with Donny", then sack dinner (complements of the Coppermill restaurant), back on the bus to the Kent Concert hall, then sing in the concert at 8:00.
Just a side note, their are many in the choir that are there to have fun and have a great experience with music. but their are a few that take things a little too seriously. We had some dramatic moments lining up for the dinner that were a little frightening, but we take it in stride and still had a great time.
We had such a great experience in the concert. The choir sang some patriotic numbers. We did a number with bagpipes, which was awesome. We sang a couple songs with Donny. Then we got to enjoy an up close but back side view of the concert. I was amazed at the crowd. He really has some ecstatic, devoted fans. I heard that he had some fans that follow him everywhere. They came from Canada and some other places. He really had a fun show and it was pretty funny to see the 50 something women do some swooning when he sang, "Puppy Love."
We are happy to have our Wed. evenings free again but have definitely enjoyed the experiences we have shared singing in this choir.

Crazy Hair Day

After a year of school dress code of collared shirts the kids get one day of craziness. The boys have been planning their hair dos and we went to town making just right for them. They had so much fun that Samantha requested to participate in the fun. Their t-shirts are really cute. They have a self-portrait of each of each of their classmates and their teacher on them. Crazy hair day is accompanied with the Track and Field day where they play several games outside. Some of the favorite games were Soccer, the baby pool game with marbles, and obstacle race. They ate watermelon and got cool prizes.

Poll Results

According to the poll that ended about music on this blog.  The majority of blog readers would rather read in peace.  Thank you for your feedback.  I will take the music off and let you listen to your own.  =)  I will also take off the music on my other blog, childrenareworthit.blogspot.com.
Stay tuned for more polls.  I think it's kind of fun.

Prank Call

Last night as I was getting PJ's on the kids and rounding up everyone for family prayer the phone rang and what I thought was a telemarketer said is the the Overly residence.  I sweetly said, "We are not interested," and hung up.  This is my defense against a problem I have of not being able to say no.  We don't get as many telemarketers anymore but not long ago we use to get about 5 a day.  That is more then I can handle so I have gotten really good at hanging up. The phone rang soon after while we were kneeling and I said don't get it it's probably the telemarketer again.  The answering machine picked up and then someone recorded the following, "This is Logan City Police and we just received a 911 call from your house and we wanted to call to make sure everything is OK.  We have a policeman in the area and will dispatch him to see...." Then Devin picked up the phone and they were gone.
We finally got the story from the kids that Traeden dared Conrad to call 911 while they were suppose to be getting their PJ's on.  Devin called the non-emergency police number to tell them we were OK but once a police has been dispatched they are required to finish the job.  So shortly after we had a policeman show up and talked to us.  He was way nice and said it unfortunately happens a lot were kids call 911.
Devin and I were not happy about this and talked with them about how serious this was and we are hoping this doesn't happen again.  Plus I'm going to work on listening to the call and telling I'm not interested until after I hear more of the story. =)
This weekend we are going to go camping up the canyon and then Devin and I are singing in the Donny Osmond Concert with the American Festival Choir on Memorial Day.  We have two rehearsals leading up the concert as well.  I'm excited for a fun concert and up close view of the show!  My parents offered to watch the kids for us since we will be gone for quite a long time. Thank you mom and dad!  There is a nice article Desert News wrote about the concert if you click here.
My mom quit her job this week of 2 1/2 years at a Garden/Ranch Store.  They will sorely miss her but she will not miss the weekend working and not being home when family comes to visit. She is hoping to get more piano students to supplement their income.
Happy Memorial Day!

Recipes for Mothers Day

My family wanted the recipes we used for mothers day.

Sensational Spiced Salmon
2 TB brown sugar
4 tsp chili powder
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
3/4 teas ground cumin
1/2 teas salt
1/4 teas ground cinnamon
4 salmon fillets (4 ounces each)
Combine the first six ingredients; rub over salmon.  Place in a large baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray.  Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 15-20 min. or until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Rice Pilaf
1/2 cup uncooked fine egg noodles, broken
2 teas canola oil
1 TB butter
1 cup uncooked long grain rice (I use brown and some black rice)
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 c water (increase water by 3/4 cup)
2 teas low sodium chicken bouillon granules
1/4 teas salt
1/4 teas pepper
1/4 c minced fresh parley (I used 1 TB dried)
In a large saucepan, cook and stir noodles in oil and butter until lightly browned.  Stir in the rice and garlic; cook 2 min longer.  Add the water, bouillon, salt and pepper.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 13 min.  Stir in parsley; cover and cook 2-5 min longer or until rice is tender.  Brown rice will take longer to cook.

Spring is Finally here!

We have had a really busy few weeks.  Both boys are in Soccer so we are doing at least four games a week plus practices.  Traeden is in scouts now so we have an extra night doing scouts.  This week we had recitals for both Traeden and Conrad.  They say life just gets busier and busier as your kids get older and I'm finding that is very true.  We love it and it has been rewarding to see their talents blossoming.
The yard work is coming along.  We planted two trees and a bush yesterday.  I am trying to get outside for at least a half hour everyday to do yard work.  This is a challenge with the kids because they wander a bit.  My hardest thing is to keep them in our yard.  We have rules of staying in the yard unless they ask me and Samantha is pushing this rule everyday.  Abigail is into everything!  I am constantly picking up things she gets out.  It seems like she would rather play with anything but her toys.  She loves to stand and pull herself up on everything.  My estimate is that she will be walking before she turns one.  We'll just have to wait and see.  I am completely done nursing Abigail since she has four teeth and likes to bite.  This was much earlier then the other three kids but she transitioned very well.

Here are some pictures from Traeden's baptism. I regret not having a family picture taken with all those who came to the baptism. I will have to do that at the next one. The cousins did a pagent show at Deonnes Saturday night for the adults. This was really fun. Kenna was a great MC and Miss Hawaii was quite the dancer. =)

Am I going crazy?

So the last week or so I've experienced some troubling events that make me think I am losing my brain or maybe it's just lots of bad luck.
-Left my diaper bag, with wallet in it at a store, luckily was able to retrieve it because the employees waited around for us after closing
-Left another diaper bag at sister in law's house same day
-My mom lost her cell phone after an emergency pull over bathroom break for Conrad, in the rain
-Dad gets lost finding Little Ceasers and it late to the baptism
-Took our van to get the tires rotated, walked to the grocery store close by and did shopping and had them hold my grocery's so we could pay for them and pick them up after we picked up the van. My van took over two hours to get the tires rotated because a tire rod broke in the process so the store put all my grocery's' away and we had to start all over again.
-Used the wrong gas card so we didn't get our discount for the grocery's' we just bought
-Had a Red Box code to get a free movie, put my credit card in too quick and ended up paying for it--Arrgh
This has been a lot of craziness so it's taken me a while to process it all.  Hope I get my brain back soon!  =)  Be sure to take the survey by visiting the blog site.  Next post I will share our mother's day recipes and fun.

Baptism, Graduation and Baby Blessing

This has been a couple crazy busy weeks for the family.  Last Saturday, May 2nd was Traeden's Baptism!  That day was a down pour of rain.  We had two soccer games at 9:00 in the morning at two different fields.  Mom and Dad Titensor spent half at one game and half at the other.  The kids were so wet and cold.  Out of all the games we have had their has only been one or two nice weather game days.  I think this has been one of our wettest springs for a long time.  Great for our gardens, and water resourses!  After the soccer games I got to go to Scotts's Graduation Ceremony. What an accomplishment for him.  We are so happy and pleased with him.  He is graduating in Music Therapy and just like me he still has a six month internship to complete before it's official. He has one interview tomorrow in American Fork and he has a few other prospects in other states. Way to go Scott!!
The baptism was scheduled in the afternoon so we could have more family attend.  What a special time it was for Traeden.  He had so much support from family and friends.  I was so proud of him and his decision.  He really took this very seriously and I know he felt good about his experience.  Devin baptism and confirmed him.  His two grandpa's were the witnesses to the baptism.  We got to help with the program since there was only two baptisms for the day.  Traeden asked his uncle Derek to give a talk on the Holy Ghost.  Derek used a great analogy that helped us all understand the holy ghost better.  He compared the holy ghost to a flash light.  Before you are baptised the holy ghost can be with you off and on to help you decide the church is true and feel God's Love.  It can help you "see" the way.  After you are baptised we are promised we can have the holy ghost with us at all times as long as we are worthy.  Derek had Traeden stand up and shine the light above his head.  He then had him put on a hat and the holy ghost's light was obstructed.  The hat represented sins we commit.  You have to take the hat off to see again.  We may put on a bigger hat (a more serious sin) and really obstruct our spiritual vision.  Or we may do many things that darken the way and it's like wearing sunglasses all the time.  But through the atonement, we can be forgiven of our sins and the holy ghost can bless us with his light and direction again.   I really liked this analogy, and I appreciated Derek for taken the time to prepare something that Traeden will always remember.
Traeden asked his grandma's to help with the music and Uncle Scott to say the closing prayer.  Traeden and Davy (the other boy getting baptised) sang "When I am Baptised" as the musical number.  They did a great job.  We took lots of pictures that I'll add to this post at a later date.
Sunday May 3rd, Megan was blessed.  It was great to have the family together to visit and support each other.  Megan is just beautiful, she wore if I'm right in this, the same blessing dress that her mom Deonne wore when she was blessed.
